Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai offering extensive opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation, construction and professional services. Its culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international population; respectful dress, courteous behaviour and awareness of Islamic customs are important. Dubai has a modern, fast-paced lifestyle, excellent public transport, extensive shopping and dining, beaches and year-round warm weather. Hospitality roles commonly provide a work visa sponsored by the employer, and packages may include accommodation, transport, meals, medical insurance and annual leave. Employees should confirm all benefits, working hours and contract terms before accepting an offer. Relocating usually requires a passport, employment offer, medical examination and residency processing. Living costs can be high, especially for private housing, so employer accommodation is valuable. Summers are extremely hot, while winter is generally pleasant.
