Destination Guide

Australia offers strong opportunities in hospitality, particularly in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, resort regions and remote tourism destinations. Kitchens regularly recruit chefs, cooks, kitchen attendants and food-service staff, although competition can be higher in major cities. Workplace culture is generally practical, team-oriented and focused on safety, punctuality and fair employment conditions. Sydney provides a busy urban lifestyle, excellent public transport, diverse food and cultural experiences, but accommodation and living costs are high. Depending on nationality and circumstances, working holiday, student, employer-sponsored and skilled visas may be available; requirements, age limits and eligible occupations vary, so applicants should check the Australian Department of Home Affairs. Relocating usually requires a valid visa, tax file number, Australian bank account, suitable accommodation and health insurance. Superannuation and minimum employment standards may apply.
