Destination Guide

Malaysia is not one island but a country spanning the Malay Peninsula and parts of Borneo, with popular island destinations including Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, and the Perhentian Islands. Hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, retail, security, logistics, technology, and business services offer employment opportunities, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah, and Sarawak. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indigenous influences; English is widely used in hotels and business. Lifestyle ranges from modern city living to relaxed coastal communities, with affordable food and generally moderate living costs. Foreign nationals need an appropriate work permit, normally arranged and sponsored by the employer; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, medical coverage, and permit responsibilities before relocating. Putrajaya is inland, organized, green, and quieter than Kuala Lumpur, which is nearby.
