Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, tourism, restaurants, travel services, IT, education, healthcare, logistics, and renewable energy, with Colombo providing the broadest professional market. The country combines South Asian, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, and colonial influences, reflected in its food, festivals, languages, and welcoming social culture. Life is generally affordable compared with many international destinations, although imported goods and central Colombo housing can be expensive. The island provides beaches, mountains, wildlife parks, tea country, and historic cities, with warm tropical weather and regional differences in rainfall. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate employment visa or residence authorization arranged with employer support; a tourist visa does not permit employment. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, contract terms, accommodation, medical insurance, taxes, and work-permit responsibilities before relocating. English is widely used in hotels, while Sinhala and Tamil are the main local languages.
