Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, travel services, information technology, finance, education, healthcare, and business support. Colombo is the country’s commercial centre and provides the widest range of professional roles, while coastal and hill-country destinations have strong seasonal tourism employment. The culture is welcoming and diverse, blending Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences. Daily life is relatively affordable, with excellent local food, beaches, wildlife, and public transport, although traffic and humidity can be challenging. Foreign nationals normally need an employment visa or residence approval sponsored through the employer; requirements, fees, and permissions should be confirmed with Sri Lankan authorities before travel. Relocating employees should arrange a written contract, accommodation, insurance, document authentication, and clear details about tax, service charge, and working hours.
