Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, travel services, wellness, events, and related support industries, especially in Colombo, Galle, Kandy, and coastal resort areas. The culture is welcoming and diverse, blending Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences. Daily life can be relatively affordable, with excellent beaches, wildlife, mountains, historic cities, and strong local food traditions. Colombo provides the most convenient urban lifestyle, while resort locations offer a quieter setting. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit or residence authorization before taking up employment; a tourist visa does not permit work. Employers usually assist with documentation, although requirements can change and should be confirmed with Sri Lankan authorities. Relocating staff should budget for housing, transport, medical insurance, and settling-in costs, and should check whether accommodation, meals, service charge, or airfare are included in the employment package.
