Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers a diverse lifestyle across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the other emirates. Hospitality, tourism, facilities management, construction, aviation, retail and technology provide regular employment opportunities for international workers. The culture combines Islamic traditions with a highly global, multicultural population; modest dress and respectful behaviour are expected in public and at work. Dubai offers beaches, shopping, restaurants, desert activities and extensive public transport, although accommodation and transport costs can be high. Most overseas employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Employers commonly arrange entry permits, medical testing, Emirates ID processing and work authorization, while contracts may include accommodation, transport, meals, insurance or annual air tickets. Candidates should confirm salary, benefits, probation, working hours and visa responsibility before accepting an offer. UAE summers are extremely hot, so air-conditioned workplaces and careful outdoor planning are important.
