Destination Guide

Thailand offers more than beaches: major hospitality opportunities are concentrated in Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Pattaya, and Chiang Mai. Island jobs include hotel reception, restaurants, diving, wellness, housekeeping, guest relations, and resort management. Thai culture values politeness, patience, respect for elders, modest dress at temples, and the wai greeting. Island life is relaxed and outdoors-oriented, with beaches, seafood, markets, and close communities, but transport, housing, healthcare, and seasonal income can vary. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and work permit before legally working; requirements depend on nationality and position. Employers commonly assist with documentation, though applicants should confirm terms with Thailand’s authorities and the hotel. Budget for deposits, transport, insurance, and initial living costs. Learning basic Thai, respecting local customs, and checking weather and monsoon patterns are helpful when relocating to an island resort.
