Destination Guide

Qatar is a peninsula rather than an island, with Doha and Lusail offering the country’s main hospitality, retail, business, aviation, construction, healthcare, education, and technology opportunities. The culture is welcoming but conservative, with strong Islamic traditions; modest clothing, respectful behavior, and awareness of Ramadan customs are important. Lifestyle options include beaches, desert excursions, museums, shopping malls, international restaurants, sports, and large entertainment venues. Qatar is hot for much of the year, while winters are mild and pleasant. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work visa and residence permit; the employer normally arranges medical checks, documentation, and work authorization. Before relocating, confirm salary, accommodation, transport, meals, medical insurance, annual leave, flights, probation terms, and contract conditions. Living costs vary considerably, especially for private accommodation in Doha and Lusail.
