Bahrain is a small island country in the Arabian Gulf, connected to Saudi Arabia by the King Fahd Causeway. It offers employment in hospitality, retail, aviation, finance, construction, healthcare and services, with hotels and restaurants regularly hiring international workers. The culture blends Arab traditions with a diverse expatriate community. Arabic is the official language, while English is widely used in workplaces. Manama has shopping malls, restaurants, beaches, museums and a lively dining scene, while the overall lifestyle is convenient and generally relaxed. Summers are extremely hot, so indoor facilities and air-conditioning are important. For overseas workers, the employer normally arranges a work permit and residence visa; employees should not work on a tourist visa.
