Destination Guide

The Maldives offers hospitality jobs across resorts, hotels, restaurants, diving, watersports, housekeeping, engineering, finance, and guest services. Resort islands are usually multicultural workplaces with structured staff accommodation, meals, uniforms, and recreational facilities, while local islands provide a more community-based lifestyle. Maldivian culture is strongly influenced by Islam, so modest dress and respectful behavior are important, particularly away from resort areas; alcohol is generally restricted to licensed tourist resorts. Life on an island can be peaceful but remote, with limited shopping and medical services, and travel between islands may require speedboats or domestic flights. Foreign workers normally need a job offer and employer-sponsored work permit or employment approval before starting work. Contracts should clearly state salary, service charge, accommodation, meals, insurance, leave, flights, and visa responsibilities. Candidates should verify recruitment fees and contract terms before relocating.
