Destination Guide

Qatar is a modern Gulf country rather than an island, with Doha as its main employment and lifestyle hub. Hospitality, tourism, catering, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, finance, and technology offer regular job opportunities, particularly for experienced international professionals. The culture is welcoming but conservative; modest dress, respect for Islamic traditions, and awareness of Ramadan practices are important. Doha offers modern malls, beaches, museums, restaurants, desert excursions, and a comfortable expatriate community. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are pleasant. Most overseas employees require an employer-sponsored work visa and residence permit; employers commonly arrange medical checks and documentation. Relocation packages may include accommodation, transport, health insurance, flights, and meals, but terms vary. Before accepting an offer, confirm the basic salary, benefits, working hours, accommodation, probation period, leave entitlement, and visa sponsorship. Qatar has no personal income tax on employment salary, although living costs can be high.
