Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hospitality, tourism, marketing, retail, technology and business services, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi and Sabah. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous cultures, with diverse festivals, languages and excellent food. Kuala Lumpur provides urban convenience, public transport, shopping and lively entertainment, while island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang and the Perhentian Islands offer beaches, diving and a slower lifestyle. Living costs are generally moderate, although central Kuala Lumpur accommodation can be expensive. International interns and employees normally need an appropriate pass or permit arranged with the sponsoring organization; visa and work authorization rules depend on nationality, role and program duration. Candidates should confirm requirements with Marriott, the Malaysian embassy and immigration authorities before travel. Relocation planning should include accommodation, insurance, transport, healthcare and local banking.
