Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality, security, tourism, food and beverage, retail, technology, and business opportunities, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak. Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest employment market, modern transport, international schools, shopping, and diverse dining, while Penang and Langkawi offer a more relaxed island lifestyle with strong tourism activity. Malaysian culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences, with festivals, religious traditions, and varied cuisine. Living costs are moderate compared with many global cities, although central Kuala Lumpur and popular resort islands can be more expensive. Foreign workers generally need employer sponsorship and an approved Employment Pass or relevant work permit before starting employment; Malaysian-only vacancies do not provide an overseas relocation route. New arrivals should confirm salary, accommodation, medical coverage, transport, contract terms, and immigration arrangements directly with the employer. Humid weather, monsoon seasons, and adapting to local workplace customs should also be considered.
