Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology, finance, education, and healthcare, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak. Its culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences, with diverse food, festivals, and languages. Kuala Lumpur provides urban conveniences, shopping, public transport, and a busy professional lifestyle, while islands such as Langkawi, Penang, and parts of Sabah offer beaches, nature, and a slower pace. Living costs vary; accommodation and transport are generally more affordable than in many major global cities, though central Kuala Lumpur is more expensive. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or another appropriate work permit before starting employment. Employers typically manage much of the application process. Relocation requires valid documentation, suitable housing, medical checks where required, and consideration of climate, traffic, healthcare, and local customs.
