Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai offering particularly strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation, construction, and business services. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a large international community; modest dress, respect for religion, and courteous behavior are important. Dubai has a modern lifestyle, excellent transport, beaches, shopping, entertainment, and hot summers. Hospitality employees commonly receive employer-sponsored work visas, medical coverage, and sometimes accommodation, meals, transport, and annual flights, although benefits vary by contract. A passport, employment offer, medical examination, and official visa processing are normally required. Employees should confirm salary, accommodation, working hours, probation, leave, and gratuity terms before relocating. Living costs can be high, especially for private housing, so staff accommodation is valuable. Arabic is the official language, while English is widely used in workplaces.
