Destination Guide

The Philippines is an archipelago with employment concentrated mainly in Luzon, especially Metro Manila, where Taguig’s Bonifacio Global City hosts many multinational companies and professional-services offices. Cebu and Davao also offer growing opportunities in technology, business process services, finance, tourism, and shared services. Filipino culture is generally welcoming, family-oriented, and collaborative; English is widely used in business, while Filipino and regional languages are common in daily life. Living costs vary considerably, with Manila being the most expensive. Public transport can be crowded, and traffic is a major consideration, although many employers offer hybrid work. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa before starting employment; requirements depend on nationality and contract terms. New arrivals should budget for housing deposits, healthcare, transportation, and typhoon-season disruptions. Local workers generally need standard government identification and employment documents.
