Destination Guide

Ireland offers strong opportunities in technology, artificial intelligence, data, pharmaceuticals, financial services, cybersecurity and multinational business, particularly around Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick. The culture is generally friendly, informal and community-oriented, with a strong social life centred on pubs, music, sport and festivals. Ireland provides an appealing lifestyle with scenic coastlines, green countryside and relatively short travel distances, though housing costs and availability, especially in Dublin, are significant concerns. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens can live and work without an employment permit. Non-EU nationals usually need an employment permit and, depending on nationality and stay length, an entry visa. Highly skilled technology professionals may qualify for a Critical Skills Employment Permit if the role and salary meet current requirements. Relocating candidates should arrange accommodation early, review tax and healthcare arrangements, and confirm work authorization before arrival. Public transport is strongest in major cities, while a car is useful outside urban areas.
