Destination Guide

Ireland offers strong opportunities in financial services, consulting, technology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and multinational business, particularly in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick. The culture is friendly, conversational and community-focused, with a strong social tradition built around music, sport and local events. Dublin provides the largest professional job market but has high housing costs; regional cities and towns may offer a more relaxed lifestyle. Public transport is improving, although a car can be useful outside major urban areas. EU, EEA and Swiss nationals can work without an employment visa. Non-EEA professionals generally need an employment permit, commonly a Critical Skills Employment Permit for eligible specialist roles, followed by immigration registration. Applicants should secure an offer, check salary and occupation eligibility, budget carefully for rent and healthcare, and arrange accommodation early. Ireland’s mild, changeable weather and scenic coastline make it attractive for outdoor activities and travel.
