Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied career opportunities across technology, e-commerce, logistics, tourism, finance, manufacturing, and consumer services. Jakarta on Java is the main corporate and technology hub, while Bali is attractive for tourism, hospitality, digital work, and international communities. Other important centers include Surabaya, Bandung, Medan, Makassar, and Batam. Indonesian culture generally values respect, community, hospitality, and relationship-building; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful. Living costs vary significantly, with Jakarta and Bali often more expensive than regional cities. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and the appropriate work and residence permits; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocation packages, housing, healthcare, and tax arrangements should be confirmed with the employer. Indonesia’s large population and growing digital economy create strong prospects for merchant partnerships and platform-based businesses.
