Job Description

The Manager Procurement role typically requires a degree in procurement, supply chain, business, engineering, or a related discipline, together with substantial experience in construction, infrastructure, mining, or another project-based environment. The candidate should be confident managing sourcing strategies, tenders, supplier negotiations, contracts, purchase orders, delivery schedules, and vendor performance. Knowledge of Indonesian procurement practices, commercial risk, compliance, and ERP systems is valuable. Leighton would expect strong leadership, analytical ability, communication skills, ethical judgment, and the capacity to work with project, engineering, finance, and site teams. Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia may be advantageous, particularly when coordinating international suppliers and local contractors.

Company Info

Leighton is a major construction and infrastructure contractor operating across Asia, with experience in building, civil engineering, transport infrastructure, mining, and large-scale development projects. In Indonesia, its operations have been associated with complex projects requiring strong local supply chains, capable subcontractors, and rigorous commercial and safety controls. The business is part of the wider CIMIC Group, a leading international engineering and construction organization connected with HOCHTIEF. Leighton’s working environment is generally project-driven and multicultural, bringing together construction professionals, engineers, commercial specialists, and local partners. Employees are typically expected to maintain high standards in safety, integrity, quality, environmental management, and delivery performance. A procurement manager supports these goals by securing reliable materials and services, managing supplier relationships, controlling costs, and helping projects meet schedule and compliance requirements.

Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied opportunities across its major islands. Java, especially Jakarta, has the broadest corporate, construction, infrastructure, and procurement employment market. Sumatra and Kalimantan provide opportunities in plantations, mining, energy, roads, and industrial development, while Sulawesi is growing through mining and logistics. Bali has a strong tourism and hospitality economy but fewer large-project roles. Life ranges from fast-paced urban living to quieter coastal or regional communities. Indonesian culture is welcoming, family-oriented, and diverse, with Bahasa Indonesia used nationally and English common in international companies. Housing, transport, and healthcare are generally most convenient in major cities. Indonesian citizens need no visa; foreign employees normally require employer sponsorship, an approved work plan, and a KITAS residence permit. Relocating staff should confirm tax, insurance, accommodation, schooling, and travel arrangements before accepting an offer.
