Destination Guide

Spain’s main island regions are the Balearic Islands—Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera—and the Canary Islands, including Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura. Job opportunities are strongest in tourism, hospitality, aviation, retail, marine services, construction, renewable energy, logistics, and technology. Energy-sector corporate roles are more commonly based in Madrid, Barcelona, or mainland industrial centers, although island offices and client work may occasionally be available. Island life offers a relaxed outdoor lifestyle, warm climates, beaches, diverse food, and strong local traditions, but housing can be expensive and seasonal employment is common. Spanish is important for daily life and many jobs, while English is useful in tourism and international business. EU/EEA citizens can work freely in Spain. Non-EU nationals generally need an employment visa or another residence permit, and should arrange accommodation, registration, healthcare, and tax documentation before relocating.
