Company Info

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS hospital trusts in the United Kingdom. It provides a broad range of specialist and general healthcare services across hospitals including Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital, and Solihull Hospital. The trust is a major teaching and research organisation, working closely with the University of Birmingham and supporting the training of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Its services include trauma, burns and plastics, cancer care, transplantation, cardiac medicine, surgery, and emergency care. The organisation employs a large multidisciplinary workforce and places strong emphasis on patient safety, clinical quality, education, innovation, and research. Birmingham offers extensive transport links, a diverse population, relatively affordable living compared with London, and access to a wide range of professional and cultural opportunities.

Destination Guide

The United Kingdom offers strong employment opportunities in healthcare, technology, engineering, finance, education, and hospitality. Its culture is diverse, with historic towns, major cities, music, sport, museums, and a well-established pub and café tradition. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to quieter coastal and rural communities; public transport is generally best in larger cities. International doctors normally need GMC registration, acceptable English-language evidence, and a job offer from an approved sponsor. The Health and Care Worker visa is commonly used for eligible NHS roles and can provide a faster, lower-cost route than a standard work visa. Applicants should budget for rent, deposits, travel, and immigration costs, particularly in London and the southeast. Birmingham is a practical relocation choice because it has excellent rail connections, a large international community, and generally lower housing costs than London.
