This role focuses on developing commercial opportunities for oversized and project cargo transported by sea across Spain’s island markets. Candidates are likely expected to have experience in freight forwarding, maritime transport, logistics sales or project cargo, together with strong customer-development and negotiation skills. Fluency in Spanish and good English, commercial awareness, and the ability to prepare transport solutions and quotations are important. Knowledge of ports, shipping lines, customs procedures and out-of-gauge cargo is highly valuable. DHL will expect the successful candidate to build a strong pipeline, win new business, manage customer relationships and coordinate effectively with operations and international teams. A proactive, target-focused approach, willingness to travel and the ability to manage complex customer requirements will also be important.
DHL is a global logistics and supply chain company operating in more than 220 countries and territories. Its services include international express delivery, freight forwarding, contract logistics, warehousing, supply chain management and e-commerce solutions. DHL Global Forwarding, the division most relevant to this position, arranges air, ocean and road freight for businesses, including complex and oversized shipments that require specialist planning. The company works with manufacturers, retailers, infrastructure providers and other organizations to move goods efficiently across international markets. DHL is known for its extensive transport network, international career opportunities and emphasis on customer service, operational reliability and sustainability. In Spain, it serves mainland and island locations through a combination of offices, logistics facilities, ports and partner networks. This position would support DHL’s commercial growth in maritime project and oversized cargo services.
Spain’s main island job markets are the Balearic Islands, including Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca, and the Canary Islands, including Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Opportunities are strongest in tourism, hospitality, retail, logistics, freight forwarding, port operations, construction, renewable energy and customer services. Mallorca, Tenerife and Gran Canaria generally offer the broadest professional options. Island life brings warm weather, outdoor activities, relaxed social culture and strong international communities, although housing can be expensive in popular areas and salaries may be lower than in Madrid or Barcelona. Spanish is important for daily life and many jobs; English and other languages are valuable in tourism and international logistics. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens can work without a visa, while non-EU applicants normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and residence authorization. Before relocating, check accommodation, transport connections, healthcare registration, taxes and whether the role is based near a commercial port.
