Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the broadest opportunities in banking, finance, technology, consulting, energy, logistics, healthcare and tourism. The culture combines modern international business with strong Islamic traditions; modest dress and respectful behavior are appreciated, particularly during Ramadan. Lifestyle options range from beaches, restaurants and shopping to desert activities and a vibrant expatriate community. Most professional expatriates enter on an employer-sponsored residence visa, with the company commonly arranging work authorization, medical testing and Emirates ID processing. Dependents may be sponsored subject to salary and immigration requirements. Relocation costs and housing can be significant, especially in Dubai, while public transport is strongest in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Employees should confirm tax, health insurance, accommodation and visa terms before accepting an offer.
