Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in banking, technology, manufacturing, consulting, tourism, education, and international business, with Tokyo and Osaka serving as major employment centers. The workplace often values punctuality, preparation, teamwork, respect for hierarchy, and careful communication, although global firms may have more flexible cultures. Japan combines excellent public transport, safe cities, efficient services, seasonal food, and rich traditions with relatively high housing costs in central Tokyo and a demanding work environment in some industries. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work visa, such as the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services or Highly Skilled Professional visa. A job offer, passport, qualifications, and supporting company documents are normally required. Relocating employees should arrange housing, resident registration, health insurance, a bank account, and a phone after arrival. Learning practical Japanese greatly helps with daily life, workplace integration, and long-term career development.
