Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in banking, fintech, asset management, insurance, trade, technology, logistics and professional services. The culture is international but business is often relationship-driven, and Cantonese, Mandarin and English are widely used in professional settings. Life is fast-paced, with excellent public transport, diverse restaurants, shopping, hiking trails and beaches. Housing is expensive, particularly on Hong Kong Island and in central Kowloon, although areas such as the New Territories may offer better value. Most overseas professionals require an employment visa sponsored by their employer; applicants generally need a confirmed job, suitable qualifications and relevant experience. Employers commonly assist with visa paperwork and relocation, but newcomers should budget for deposits, healthcare, transport and accommodation. Hong Kong is well connected to regional business hubs, making it attractive for professionals seeking an Asia-Pacific career.
