Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in banking, asset management, fintech, insurance, consulting, technology, logistics, and professional services. The city is an international financial hub, so English is widely used in offices, while Cantonese and Mandarin are valuable for many client-facing roles. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse restaurants, shopping, hiking trails, beaches, and easy access to outlying islands such as Lantau and Cheung Chau. Housing can be expensive, particularly in central districts, although areas such as Kowloon, the New Territories, and parts of Hong Kong Island provide different price and lifestyle options. Overseas professionals usually need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, commonly through the General Employment Policy, with the company demonstrating a genuine role and suitable qualifications. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, health insurance, banking, and tax registration before or soon after moving.
