Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in technology, cybersecurity, software engineering, finance, consulting, manufacturing, tourism, and international business. Tokyo has the widest range of jobs and the highest salaries, while Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, and Sapporo can offer lower living costs and growing technology markets. Japanese workplaces value punctuality, preparation, teamwork, respect, and careful communication. Daily life is convenient, safe, and supported by excellent public transport, though housing and commuting in Tokyo can be expensive. Learning Japanese improves career prospects and makes everyday life easier, even when English is used at work. Foreign professionals generally need an appropriate work visa, commonly sponsored by their employer; highly skilled workers may qualify for preferential routes. Before relocating, arrange housing, residence registration, health insurance, a bank account, and a phone plan. Japan has four seasons, excellent food, varied regional cultures, and easy domestic travel, but newcomers should be prepared for earthquakes and humid summers.
