Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers a coastal lifestyle with beaches, waterfront districts and easy access to islands such as Yas Island, Saadiyat Island and Palm Jumeirah. Dubai and Abu Dhabi provide the strongest job markets, especially in aviation, technology, finance, construction, tourism and logistics. Life is modern and international, with excellent transport, shopping, restaurants and entertainment, although housing and private schooling can be expensive. UAE culture combines Arab traditions, Islamic values and a large expatriate community; modest dress and respect for local customs are expected in public places. Most foreign employees need employer-sponsored residence and work visas, with the company usually arranging medical checks, Emirates ID processing and residency formalities. Before relocating, confirm housing allowances, health insurance, flights and dependants’ sponsorship. Summers are extremely hot, while winters are pleasant and ideal for outdoor activities.
