Destination Guide

Malaysia is not one island but a country with mainland and island destinations, including Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Redang, and parts of Borneo. Hospitality jobs are common in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism companies, and diving or leisure businesses, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah, and Sarawak. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences. English is widely used in tourism, although Malay is the national language. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed beach or resort communities; costs are generally moderate, though island accommodation can be expensive. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company must arrange approval before work begins. Candidates should confirm visa eligibility, accommodation, transport, healthcare, taxes, and relocation support before accepting an offer.
