Assistant Front Office Manager

Malaysia Shangri-La MYR 4,000–MYR 7,000 per month*
Job Description

The Assistant Front Office Manager supports the Front Office Manager in overseeing reception, concierge, guest services, telephone operations and front desk administration. The role typically requires a diploma or degree in hotel management, hospitality or a related field, along with several years of front office experience, preferably in an upscale or international hotel. Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving and customer-service skills are essential. Candidates should be comfortable supervising staff, handling guest complaints, coordinating room availability, monitoring service standards and supporting hotel policies. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays is expected. Familiarity with hotel property-management systems, reservation procedures and Malaysian hospitality standards is an advantage.

Company Info

Shangri-La is a major luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other international markets. The brand is recognised for refined service, extensive facilities, distinctive local character and its welcoming approach to guests. Shangri-La properties commonly include restaurants, banquet venues, spas, swimming pools and business or leisure services. In Malaysia, the group has established properties in destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Sabah. Employees generally work in multicultural teams and receive exposure to international hotel standards, structured operating procedures and guest-service training. Depending on the property and position, benefits may include meals, uniforms, service charge, staff accommodation or transport, medical coverage and discounted stays. Exact benefits and career development opportunities vary by hotel and employment contract.

Destination Guide

Malaysia is a multicultural country rather than a single island destination, with opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Hospitality jobs are available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, tourism and guest services, particularly in major cities and coastal destinations. Malay, English and Chinese languages are commonly heard, and people generally value politeness, family, religious respect and personal presentation. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed beach or island communities, with affordable local food, tropical weather and strong public transport in larger cities. Foreign applicants normally need a Malaysian employer to sponsor an Employment Pass; approval depends on the role, salary, qualifications and immigration requirements. Before relocating, confirm the contract, accommodation, medical coverage, tax obligations and visa status. Research monsoon seasons, especially for east-coast and island locations, and budget for deposits and initial living expenses.
