Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality, tourism, retail, education, technology and service-sector opportunities, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and Johor. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous cultures, with diverse festivals, cuisine and traditions. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, although central Kuala Lumpur and popular islands can be more expensive. Malaysia has tropical weather, attractive beaches, rainforests and active urban communities. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company must handle approval and immigration procedures before work begins. Dependants may require separate passes. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, medical coverage and relocation support in writing. English is widely used in business and hotels, while Malay is the national language. International airports and domestic flights make movement between mainland cities and island destinations convenient. Langkawi and Penang are especially popular for leisure, while Kuala Lumpur offers the broadest professional and social opportunities.
