Destination Guide

The Philippines offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, catering and tourism, particularly in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Bohol and Davao. Hospitality work can provide exposure to international guests and strong career progression, although salaries are generally lower than in the Middle East or Western countries. Filipino culture is welcoming, family-oriented and community-minded, with English widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities; living costs are usually lower outside Manila and major resort areas. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and an appropriate visa before starting employment, while requirements depend on nationality and contract terms. Relocating staff should budget for housing, transport, health insurance and document processing, and confirm whether the employer provides accommodation, meals or relocation assistance.
