Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, finance, technology, healthcare and international business. Its culture is multicultural, shaped by Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities, and English is widely used at work. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and urban, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, varied dining and many parks, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Singapore has a tropical climate with year-round heat and humidity. Foreign employees generally require an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to salary, qualifications and government approval. Relocating staff should arrange accommodation, medical insurance, banking and tax registration, and confirm pass eligibility before accepting an offer. The island’s central location also makes travel around Southeast Asia convenient.
