Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, finance, retail, technology, healthcare, and professional services. Its hospitality sector is international and competitive, with Cantonese, English, and Mandarin widely valued. The culture blends Chinese traditions with global influences; courtesy, efficiency, and respect for hierarchy are important at work. Lifestyle is energetic, convenient, and urban, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking, beaches, and nearby islands such as Lantau and Cheung Chau. Housing can be expensive and space is limited, so applicants should budget carefully and check whether accommodation or meals are included. Foreign employees generally need an approved employment visa before starting work, usually sponsored by the employer under the General Employment Policy. Applicants should confirm visa eligibility, contract terms, medical coverage, and relocation costs directly with Shangri-La and Hong Kong Immigration.
