Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, travel services, technology, finance, education, and international business. Hospitality roles are especially common in Colombo, the southern coast, Kandy, and the eastern and northern tourist areas. The culture is friendly and diverse, shaped by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial influences, with Buddhism playing an important role. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living in Colombo to relaxed beach, hill-country, and rural communities. Living costs are generally lower than in many international destinations, although imported goods and central Colombo housing can be expensive. Foreign employees usually need an employment or residence visa sponsored or supported by their employer; they should confirm requirements with Sri Lankan immigration authorities before travelling. Candidates should also arrange a written contract, accommodation details, health insurance, and relocation support before accepting a role.
