Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, construction, technology, finance and healthcare. The culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle is safe, convenient and fast-paced, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and waterfront attractions. Accommodation and daily expenses can be high, especially near central areas, so shared housing or locations near MRT stations may be practical. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, and approval depends on qualifications, salary and government criteria. Employers commonly guide successful candidates through the application process. New arrivals should arrange housing, banking, medical coverage and tax registration, and confirm relocation benefits, working hours and pass eligibility before accepting an offer.
