Destination Guide

Australia offers opportunities in banking, finance, technology, healthcare, construction, education, retail and skilled trades, with Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide being major employment centres. Australian workplaces are generally professional, practical and fairly informal, with strong emphasis on equality, safety, punctuality and work-life balance. Lifestyle options range from lively cities and beaches to regional towns, national parks and outdoor activities. Living costs, especially rent, can be high in Sydney. Overseas applicants usually need an appropriate visa, such as an employer-sponsored, skilled, working holiday or student visa, and must check occupation, English-language and eligibility requirements. Relocating involves arranging accommodation, tax and banking accounts, healthcare access, transport and potentially professional recognition. Australia is a large island country, so distances between cities are substantial; research the local climate, commuting options and housing market before moving.
