Destination Guide

Spain’s islands offer strong employment opportunities in hotels, restaurants, resorts, tourism, cleaning, maintenance, leisure and customer service. Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Mallorca, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Ibiza are the main hospitality destinations, with seasonal recruitment especially before summer and winter peaks. Island culture combines Spanish traditions with relaxed coastal living, local festivals, seafood, outdoor activities and a strong international community. Lifestyle is generally sunny and sociable, although rents can be high in popular resort areas and cars may be useful outside major towns. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens can work without a visa but must register locally and obtain the required identification documents. Non-EU applicants normally need a Spanish work and residence permit arranged with employer support before starting work. Candidates should verify contract terms, accommodation, transport, social-security registration and whether salary is quoted over 12 or 14 payments.
