Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city and one of Asia’s leading financial centres. Job opportunities are strong in banking, fintech, technology, healthcare, logistics, professional services and multinational companies, although competition is high. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, with English widely used at work alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life offers excellent public transport, reliable services, diverse food, shopping, parks and easy regional travel, but housing and private schooling can be expensive. Foreign professionals generally need an employment pass sponsored by an employer; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and the employer’s application assessment. Dependants may qualify for related passes subject to requirements. New arrivals should budget carefully for rent, deposits, insurance and daily expenses, and should confirm pass approval before relocating. Singapore’s warm, humid climate, efficient infrastructure and international community make it a convenient base for regional careers.
