Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city and one of Asia’s leading financial and business hubs. Job opportunities are strongest in banking, technology, data, compliance, finance, logistics, healthcare and professional services, although competition is considerable. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally business-oriented, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle options range from excellent public transport, diverse food and shopping to parks, beaches and an active expatriate community. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, while public transport is reliable and healthcare is well regarded. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, subject to salary, qualifications and government assessment; lower-paid skilled roles may qualify for an S Pass. Before relocating, candidates should confirm pass eligibility, medical insurance, housing costs, taxation and school arrangements. Singapore’s warm, humid climate and occasional heavy rain are year-round considerations.
