Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state and a major regional centre for banking, technology, logistics, healthcare and professional services. Job opportunities are especially strong in financial services, compliance, data, cybersecurity, fintech, engineering and regional headquarters functions. Workplace culture is generally professional, multicultural and fast-paced, with English widely used in business. The lifestyle is convenient, safe and urban, offering efficient public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and easy access to neighbouring countries. Housing can be expensive, particularly in central districts, while public transport and healthcare are well developed. Foreign professionals usually require an Employment Pass, typically sponsored by an employer and subject to salary, qualifications and government assessment criteria; other work passes apply to different skill levels. Prospective movers should verify current Ministry of Manpower rules, budget carefully for rent, and consider neighbourhoods near their workplace. Singapore’s warm, humid climate and occasional heavy rainfall are also important relocation considerations.
