Company Info

United Overseas Bank (UOB) is a major Singapore-headquartered bank with operations across Southeast Asia and international financial centres. Founded in 1935, the group provides consumer banking, commercial and corporate banking, investment banking, wealth management, treasury, and digital financial services. UOB serves individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises, large corporations, and institutional clients. Following its acquisition of Citigroup’s consumer banking businesses in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, UOB strengthened its regional presence and customer base. The bank places strong emphasis on responsible growth, risk management, regulatory compliance, technology, and long-term customer relationships. Its Group Compliance function supports the organisation by managing regulatory obligations, financial-crime risks, conduct standards, and control frameworks across businesses and markets. Singapore is UOB’s headquarters and remains a significant centre for its regional governance, operations, and specialist banking functions.

Destination Guide

Singapore offers strong opportunities in banking, compliance, financial crime prevention, technology, risk, accounting, and regional operations. The city is multicultural, highly connected, safe, and English is widely used in professional settings. Workplaces are generally structured and fast-paced, with emphasis on performance, collaboration, and regulatory discipline. Lifestyle options range from hawker food and neighbourhood markets to museums, shopping districts, parks, beaches, and a lively international community. Public transport is efficient, while housing and childcare can be expensive. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work pass; senior banking hires commonly use the Employment Pass, subject to salary and qualification requirements, while dependants may qualify for related passes. Candidates should secure a written offer before relocating, budget carefully for accommodation, and check current Ministry of Manpower rules. Singapore’s central location also makes regional travel across Asia convenient.
