Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong employment opportunities in banking, technology, healthcare, logistics, engineering, professional services and multinational headquarters. Its financial district is concentrated around Marina Bay, Raffles Place and the wider Central Business District. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally professional, with English widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle benefits include excellent public transport, diverse food, modern healthcare, safe neighbourhoods and easy access to parks and beaches, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Foreign professionals usually need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with eligibility depending on salary, qualifications, experience and the employer’s assessment. S Pass routes may apply to some skilled roles but have quotas and levies. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, banking access and tax registration, and compare commute times carefully because central housing is expensive.
