Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in banking, technology, shared services, manufacturing, tourism, healthcare, and education. Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley are the main employment hubs, while Penang and Johor also have active economies. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences reflected in food, festivals, languages, and daily life. Costs are generally lower than in Singapore, although central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Malaysia provides a relaxed lifestyle, excellent food, beaches, islands, rainforests, and convenient regional travel. Foreign professionals normally require an employment pass sponsored by their employer, with approval depending on salary, qualifications, and role. Relocating workers should arrange housing, medical coverage, banking, and tax registration, and confirm whether their employer provides visa and relocation support.
