Malaysia offers strong opportunities in banking, financial services, technology, shared services, manufacturing and regional headquarters, particularly in Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences, with a generally welcoming workplace culture and English widely used in business. Living costs are moderate compared with Singapore, although central Kuala Lumpur housing and international schools can be expensive. Malaysia also offers easy access to islands such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Redang and the Perhentians, known for beaches, diving and relaxed lifestyles. Foreign professionals normally need an employment pass sponsored by their employer; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and the approved position. Employers usually coordinate the application, while dependants may require separate passes. New arrivals should budget for housing deposits, healthcare, transport and private insurance, and check current immigration rules before relocating.
