Established in 1935, it provides personal banking, business banking, commercial and corporate banking, wealth management, investment banking and digital financial services. UOB has a significant presence in Malaysia, serving individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises, emerging companies and large corporations through branches and digital channels. Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in banking, technology, shared services, manufacturing, tourism, healthcare and logistics. Sibu, in Sarawak on Borneo, has a lower cost of living than Kuala Lumpur and a relaxed lifestyle centred on local food, markets, riverfront areas and close-knit communities. Malaysia is culturally diverse, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, and English is widely used in business. Employees can enjoy affordable housing, varied cuisine and easy access to nature, although Sibu is quieter and less internationally connected than major cities. Foreign professionals normally require employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process; dependants may need separate passes. Before relocating, confirm salary, benefits, accommodation, healthcare coverage and transfer requirements. Malaysian citizens need no work visa, while international hires should verify current immigration rules and ensure their qualifications and employment contract meet approval requirements.
