Destination Guide

The United Kingdom offers extensive opportunities in hospitality, including chef, hotel, restaurant, housekeeping, events and management roles. Its culture is diverse and generally informal, with strong traditions around pubs, sport, music and regional food. Lifestyle varies considerably: Exeter provides a relaxed, historic setting with access to the coast, countryside and outdoor activities, while larger cities offer more nightlife and international communities. Living costs are usually lower in Exeter than in London, although rent and transport still require careful budgeting. Applicants from outside the UK normally need a visa that permits employment; eligibility depends on nationality, occupation, salary and employer sponsorship. Many entry-level hospitality jobs do not qualify for sponsorship, so candidates should check the UK Government's current visa rules before accepting an offer. Relocation planning should include accommodation, right-to-work documents, National Insurance registration, banking and local transport.
