Destination Guide

The United Kingdom offers extensive opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, healthcare, technology, finance and professional services, particularly in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and other major cities. British culture generally values politeness, punctuality, personal privacy and queuing, while workplaces are often diverse and multicultural. Lifestyle options range from busy city living and world-class entertainment to coastal towns, countryside and historic villages. Public transport is widely available, though London living costs, especially rent, are high. Visa requirements depend on nationality. Many overseas workers need a sponsored Skilled Worker visa, requiring an eligible role, an approved employer and the required salary and English-language criteria. Hospitality roles may have limited sponsorship availability, so candidates should verify eligibility before accepting an offer. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens generally need immigration permission unless they hold settled or pre-settled status. New arrivals should budget for accommodation, transport, healthcare-related charges where applicable and initial living expenses.
